Services offered by Dr David O’Connell are provided by The Chelsea Green Practice.
The practice provides the very best medical care.
But in doing so, they also bear in mind the commitments, plans and lifestyle of each of its patients.
The medical services offered by Dr David O’Connell are therefore structured to consider each individual patient’s needs.
Dr David O’Connell offers face-to-face consultations, home visits and telephone consultations to suit your individual medical needs.
These consultations and visits are available between 8:30AM and 6PM, Monday to Friday, with Saturday appointments available too, but by special arrangement.
Outside of these hours, our existing patients can also have telephone consultations too, again by special arrangement.
Initial consultations generally last about one hour, unless you have a complex medical history that requires a more extended appointment.
If you feel too unwell to attend the surgery, Dr O’Connell can pay you a home visit.
During the visit, you will have an assessment and supplied with a prescription that enables you to not leave your home.
The length of a home visit can vary, and will depend upon your location as well as the complexity of your medical issue.
We can advise you further about this should the situation arise.
The Chelsea Green Practice works collaboratively with its partner, On Call Doctors Service.
This way, we care for your medical needs outside of normal working hours as well as completely around the clock.
During any one of the consultations we offer, it might become necessary for you to have a blood test as part of your medical treatment.
We can either take the blood specimen from you, then transport it to the laboratory.
Alternatively, we can provide you with the request form to The Doctors Laboratory, Wimpole Street, where a blood test will be obtained.
There is a Phlebotomy Charge for us to take the specimen(s).
This one-off charge is regardless of how many specimens we take at any one time.
As a registered patient, we can provide you with a service for both new and repeat prescriptions.
New prescriptions are issued at the time of your consultation, whereas repeat prescriptions are issued when requested.
Repeat prescriptions will only be made available where appropriate and as per Dr O Connell’s treatment.
For patients who are currently receiving treatment with a repeat prescription, please note that you are regarded as ‘under continuing clinical review’.
This means your GP has a legal duty to review your clinical needs and the repeat prescription treatment at least once a year.
The turnaround for issuing repeat prescriptions is three working days.
If you require a prescription on the same day this will incur the express rate surcharge.
The licensed General Medical Practitioner prescribes all medications issued.
From time to time we receive a request from a patient to carry out research for them.
We are very happy to do this and will perform this on an individually-commissioned basis.
In cases of rare disorders, we would source the leading centres in relation to the specific disorder, making arrangements for the patient’s assessment there.
In cases of disorders where the most cutting-edge treatment is not available in the UK, we can locate the appropriate centre abroad as well as make the necessary referral for you.
As a holistic practice, when faced with a disorder, many patients would prefer to receive a more naturopathic treatment.
In these situations, we can research whether this approach or pharmaceuticals would be the best treatment.
